My daughter is now a teenager and starting to feel like she knows-it-all. She’s also starting to sneak around with her friends and it’s obvious to me she’s doing something that I would not approve of. Of course, I too was like this at her age and I remember my mother telling me, “just you wait until you have a daughter …” — she was right. Anyway, I found this site called EternityMessage.com and they let you write messages/advice/whatever to your loved ones, but those messages will only be delivered years into the future which you specify. I have already written a couple of notes to my daughter related to how she’s been acting at age 13, and how it was hard for me to cope, but that we got through it. I think it will be fun and educational for her to see details that I can remember now and will surely forget in my later years. As a side, as I wrote some of this, it acted as a “reflection” period for me and I found it good to get it down in writing.

I scheduled my Wills and Trusts to my Kids to reach in future date
August 14, 2009I am a frequent business traveler with a wife and a couple of kids at home. I’m always worried about something happening to me and me not getting a chance to share so many thoughts, ideas, advice, etc with my family. I have recently written a will and started doing a trust as well. I also started writing some letters that would be given to my kids and wife when I passed on. However, as I was writing these letters, I realized that some of the letters should really only be given to my kids at certain times in their lives when they’re old enough to understand it. It’s not a service that my law firm provides and I don’t want to really leave this to my wife to handle. Additionally, there’s a cost associated with changing my letters with the law firm. Fortunatley, and thankfully, a friend mentioned a site called EternityMessage.com that does exactly what I wanted AND for a fraction of the price that my law firm would’ve charged to keep delivering letters at certain times (if they would even do that). Anyway, I can’t say that I’m not worried as much when traveling, but I can say that I do feel a little better knowing that some of my knowledge will live on and get to my kids and wife.

Eternity Message – Send Emails in the Future
August 4, 2009Wisdom Inheritance
At EternityMessage.com, our messages are ever living. This site is uniquely designed to communicate your present thoughts and advice for the future; parents writing advice that only a 16 year old should here, but won’t be 16 for 10 years!
This site is planned in such a way that the parents’ advice, wisdom, and experiences can be written like emails, but won’t be delivered to their children at some until the child is ready for that advice. Because we can’t always rely on our memory in the future, it’s best to capture your thinking today, in your present mind and then pass that feeling and sentiment to your kids when they’re ready for it.
As a society we focus on planning for financial inheritance, but forget to pass our wisdom inheritance. Now, with advancements in technology, we can plan today for the wisdom that should be passed tomorrow. If you thought that doing your will or trust helped give you some peace of mind, wait until you start writing advice to your kids and know that they will be able to get that advice, what you’d want them to know, even if you forget or are somehow unable to give it to them personally.
As a quick example from one of our users:
“I have personally written messages to my daughter talking about what I was like when I was 10 years old, 15 years old, 16 years old, etc. These messages will only be delivered to my daughter when she is 10, 15, and 16, etc respectively. The nice thing is that when I wrote the messages, my memory of being these ages is still more “fresh” that it would be in 10 years for example. This allows me to capture detail and pass that to my kids and not have to worry about not giving it to them or forgetting what I was like (what if I go senile or just simply forget – yikes!)?”
EternityMessage.com is not only useful to parents but also to grandparents, siblings, and other extended family who have helped shaped your children’s lives in some way.

EternityMessage referring wisdom inheritance
July 30, 2009I am a mother of two children and started keeping a diary about stuff that I did with them as babies to share with them later as a fun thing. As events happened in my life I found that I was also writing to them about things like the economy and how it affected our lives and how we got through it (hopefully) as “advice” to them in case something like this happens in their lifetimes. My husband told me about a site someone at his work is using called EternityMessage.com It basically allows you to write messages to your kids / friends / people that you can set to be delivered in the future (like years into the future). They even refer to it as “wisdom inheritance” which is kindof cool because I think that’s exactly what it is. Anyway, I used the site and it’s easy and pretty straightforward. I know there are other mothers doing stuff like I do with my diary for my kids so hopefully this is something others will find useful.

Eternitymessage- send wishes to your friends in future date
July 29, 2009I love to send my friends birthday wishes each year, but always send them via email. While I do seem to remember to send the messages the day before, I seem to forget the day I should send it. I have used my calendar to help remember and also did a web search to see if there were other solutions. I came across a site called EternityMessage.com that let’s you write message and even add pictures and then schedule that message to be sent up to 1 year in the future for FREE — that answers my question – yeah! Unfortunately there’s no recurring feature, but that’s ok, since I want to customize the message each year anyway.
